Annual Meeting Features Budget Presentation

Western Suffolk BOCES will present the 2021-22 tentative BOCES Budget at its Annual Meeting Tuesday, April 13 at 7:30 pm in the Large Conference Room at the Western Suffolk BOCES Conference Center, 31 Lee Avenue, Wheatley Heights.  Component school district Board of Education members may ask questions about the budget at this meeting.

A “Meet-the Candidate” session will be conducted to afford component board members to listen to and question those seeking to fill two at-large seats on the Western Suffolk BOCES Board. There are three candidates seeking election: Mary Ellen Cunningham of Lindenhurst, James Kaden of South Huntington  and Joseph Savaglio of Centerport. Mr. Kaden is presently a member of the WSBOCES Board.

Board members of the 18 school districts in Babylon, Smithtown, and Huntington townships will vote on the BOCES Administrative Budget and elect two trustees to the BOCES Board on Tuesday, April 27. Voting takes place in each district. In accordance with state law, each district may cast one vote on the BOCES Administrative Budget and one vote for each vacant seat during balloting scheduled in each district. A majority of the boards within this BOCES must vote “yes” for the budget to pass. The two candidates receiving the most votes will serve three-year terms.
