Western Suffolk BOCES recently hosted a panel presentation featuring graduates of Wilson Tech programs and one of its key business partners, who shared their experiences with the career and technical education offered through the agency.
The panel presentation was part of an event that afforded a close-up look at the many offerings available to their students and staff to Board of Education trustees from the 18 component school districts that comprise Western Suffolk BOCES . The event began with a showcase that featured the Star Lab, a portable planetarium available through the Division of Instructional Support Services, and hands-on demonstrations by the Esthetics, Aviation, Professional Photography and other programs.
Following the showcase, the “Success After Tech” panelists discussed their connection to Wilson Tech and how that connection has impacted their lives. The graduates who joined the panel were Denise Baboukis, an Audio Production grad who is with Sam Ash Music; Jenna Nagler, a graduate of Digital Film & Video Production who is producing an animated series; Angela Jaworowski, a Veterinary Medical Assisting grad working in the operating room at North Shore Animal League, Griffin Braun, who attended the Welding program and is now with Curtiss-Wright; Katalina Diaz, Culinary Arts grad and current pastry sous chef at Daniel in New York City; and Gregory Santi, Human Resources Manager at Curtiss-Wright, an industry partner of Western Suffolk BOCES which offers internships to high school students and graduates of Wilson Tech’s programs.
