Build a satisfying career for yourself by preparing to earn national certification in Surgical Technology at the oldest accredited Surgical Technology Program on Long Island! Students enjoy hands-on practice in BOCES Operating Room and then train under an experienced health care professional in local health facilities.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the program, a student will be awarded a certificate of completion and be eligible to apply to the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting to take the National Certifying Examination for Surgical Technologists provided all the eligibility requirements are met.

Job opportunities exist in Nassau County, Suffolk County, New York City and across the nation for graduates of the Surgical Technology program at Western Suffolk BOCES. As a certified surgical technologist, you can work in hospital operating rooms, ambulatory surgical centers, surgical offices, delivery rooms, emergency departments, physician and dentist offices, cardiac catheterization/electrophysiology/interventional radiology units, central supply services and tissue banks.
Many certified surgical technologists continue their education in the BOCES Practical Nursing Program. The field offers much flexibility for those who need to work flexible schedules.
