The Boards of Education of the 18 component districts in Western Suffolk BOCES unanimously voted to approve the 2016-17 Western Suffolk BOCES Administrative Budget on April 19. The Boards also re-elected Maryann Zumpano of Smithtown, Ilene Herz, Esq., of Half Hollow Hills and Mildred Browne of Wyandanch to the BOCES Board.
The Western Suffolk BOCES budget for 2016-17 is $158,506,932. Of this, 90.3 percent is driven by the programs and services that local school districts request. Of the remainder, 2.7 percent are costs of administration; 4.9 percent for post-retirement benefits; and 2.1 percent for the capital budget.
“We thank our component districts for the opportunity and trust in permitting Western Suffolk BOCES to provide educational services for students enrolled in our Career and Technical Education and Special Education programs,” said Michael Flynn, Chief Operating Officer. “We pledge to continue our efforts to contain costs while providing high quality services for our component school districts. “
